Shariful Islam, the owner of the pond, has been fishing in the pond since 1998. He told the media that the miscreants poisoned the big pond at some point on Thursday night. More than 100 tons of carp fish died in the pond. Its market value is more than 5 crore rupees.


"My father is Mia Bepari of Jirabo village," he said. We, five brothers, were cultivating Rui, Katal, Silver Carp, Brighead Carp, Tangra and other local putti fish in a big pond of 6 bighas by spending crores of rupees. There has been no such loss in the last 22 years.


Farm water samples have been sent for testing. At the same time, action is being taken against the police station.


Regarding the matter, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Shamima Ara Nipa said, those involved in the incident will be found and brought under the law. The administration is working on this.
