Passengers say there are more people on the sunken bus

On the way from Sylhet to Sunamganj, the driver of a passenger bus lost control and the bus fell into a pond on the side of the road and almost drowned. Six people were injured when they got out of the bus at that time. Firefighters tried for two hours but did not find anyone inside the bus.

The accident took place in Janigaon area of ​​Sunamganj Sadar around 10:30 am on Tuesday.


According to the fire service and police sources, the bus left Sylhet for Sunamganj with passengers around 9 am. It was raining heavily at the time. The bus fell into a pond on the side of the road when the driver lost control while crossing Janigaon area of ​​Sunamganj Sadar Upazila around 10:30 am.


Abdul Wadud, chairman of the local Laxmanshree Union Parishad (UP), said he was in the Union Parishad. The accident happened in front of the council. Hearing the loud noise, he immediately rushed to the spot. He saw three or four people coming out of the bus. At that time, the people informed him that there were more people inside the bus. He immediately informed the fire service. Later the fire service people came and started the rescue operation.

Mozammel Haque, president of the Sunamganj Bus Owners' Association, said they found out that there were 18 passengers in the bus. About 10 people went down on the way. Six people were able to get out of the bus after the accident.
Sunamganj Fire Service Deputy Assistant Director. Shafiqul Islam Bhuiyan said they tried for two hours but did not find anyone inside or around the bus. Their idea is that all the passengers were able to get out of the bus at the time of the accident.

Sunamganj Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Abdul Ahad, Superintendent of Police rushed to the scene. Mizanur Rahman. The deputy commissioner said six passengers of the bus, who were injured in various ways while getting out of the bus during the accident, were rushed to the hospital. They all went home with first aid. Firefighters were on the scene for about two hours, but no one was found.
